House of Peace Shelter:
About Us
The unique nature of the House of Peace is born out of the needs of the culturally diverse community of Northern Lake County. Most Blessed Trinity’s Community Social Services launched the Phoenix Domestic Violence Program in 2007. While the program has aided over 500 women and children in need, it has lacked a shelter of its own that would enable women and children to escape their abusive environment. Existing local domestic violence shelters are full with waiting lists; some shelters are not able to accept individuals without documentation; emergency shelters are not equipped to deal with victims of domestic violence. The House of Peace shelter has been created with love by over 200 community volunteers who have labored since 2009. It provides temporary housing with culturally sensitive programming, resources and referrals for families in danger. Our goal is to enable these most fragile individuals to regain the dignity owed to every human being. Most Blessed Trinity’s Community Social Services has a legacy of serving the poor. With the assistance of dedicated staff, many volunteers, and continued financial support from our donors and partners, we have fed the hungry, clothed the naked, and sheltered the homeless providing hope to people in need. Over 44,000 people received some form of assistance from CSS in 2010.
